The Miami Dolphins announced Thursday that they’ve waived LB James Burgess to make room for newly signed DL Adolphus Washington.
Burgess, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Louisville back in 2016. He was, unfortunately, among Miami’s final roster cuts but was later signed to the team’s practice squad.
After brief stints with the Chargers, Ravens and Jaguars, Burgess signed on to the Browns’ practice squad during the 2016 season. Cleveland brought him back on a futures contract the following year before waiving him from injured reserve with a settlement in October.
The Dolphins signed Burgess to a futures contract this past January.
In 2018, Burgess appeared in three games and recorded eight tackles and no sacks or interceptions.
