Eagles head coach Andy Reid mentioned that they’re ready to work on a long-term contract extension for RBย LeSean McCoy in the near future.
“We’ll jump in here and start working on that,” Reid said, via Philadelphia Daily News. “He’s a guy that we sure appreciate having on the team.”
Philadelphia has already met with McCoy’s agent Drew Rosenhaus to discuss the parameters of a deal but Reid added that “these things take a little bit of time. That’s how it works.”
McCoy is coming off of a very productive season for the Eagles and will be a free agent following the 2012 season so I can see why they’d like to address his contract now rather than end up in a similar situation as they were in with DeSean Jackson.
