Eagles Promote CB Ryan Lewis, Waive/Injured TE Alex Ellis

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Friday that they’ve promoted CB Ryan Lewis to their active roster and waived TE Alex Ellis with an injury designation.

Should Lewis clear waivers tomorrow, he would revert to the team’s injured reserve list.

Lewis, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburgh back in May of 2018. He was waived coming out of the preseason and later signed him to the Cardinals practice squad.

Lewis later caught on with the Patriots but was among their final roster cuts on at the start of the 2018 regular season. He had brief stints with the Colts and Bills before signing on to the Eagles’ practice squad earlier in the week.

In 2019, Lewis has appeared in three games for the Colts and recorded one tackle.
