According to Ian Rapoport,ย Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount put off contract talks until the offseason and now plans to test free agent again for the second straight year.
Even so, Blount says he likes being in Philadelphia and playing for RBs coach Duce Staley.
โItโs early,ย so weโll see,โ Blount said, via NFL.com. โObviously, I like it a lot there. They like me a lot there. Itโs a mutual respect and mutual agreement thing about how we feel about each other. You guys know how I feel about the guys, the team. I love those guys. I canโt stay enough about Duceย just for the simple fact of how well I was coached there and how good he helped me understand things. I feel like Duce is one of the best running back coaches, one of the best coaches Iโve ever had in my entire life. Obviously, I want to be a part of that for a while so weโll see how it goes.โ
In 2017, Blount appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and rushed for 766 yards on 173 carries (4.4 YPC) to go along with eight receptions for 50 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
Blount, 31,ย originally signed on with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon back in 2010. He was unable to make the Titans’ 53-man roster during his rookie season but was later claimed off of waivers by the Buccaneers.
Tampa Bay elected to trade Blount to the Patriots in return for Jeff Demps and a late-round pick after three years.ย Blount had a brief stint with the Steelers before he was cut loose during the 2013 season and later re-signed by the Patriots.
Last year, the Eagles signed Blount back on a one-year contract.
