Update: According to Dave Zangaro, Eagles CB Rasul Douglas agreed to a pay cut as a part of his restructured contract.
Douglas will now make the league minimum of $825,000 as a base salary after being scheduled to have a base of $2.133 million.
Douglas will count just over $1 million against the cap after previously having a cap hit of $2.3 million, resulting in a $1.3 million cap savings for Philadelphia.
According to Mike Kaye, the Eagles and CB Rasul Douglas have agreed to a restructured contract.
Kaye said details of Douglas’ restructure were not immediately available, but he was scheduled to make $2.133 million in the final year of his deal in 2020 while counting $2.3 million against the cap. Any restructure would likely lower that figure.
A former third-round pick, Douglas has reportedly been on the trading block since March. He’s fallen down the depth chart at corner in Philadelphia and will be competing for a roster spot this summer.
The Eagles traded for CB Darius Slay from the Lions, and while Jalen Mills was moved to safety, Douglas will still be competing against Avonte Maddox and Sidney Jones.
Douglas, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Eagles back in 2017. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $3.17 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $754,750 for the 2020 season.
In 2019, Douglas appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and recorded 35 tackles, no interceptions and 10 passes defended. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 98 cornerback receiver out of 113 qualifying players.
We’ll have more on Douglas as the news is available.
