Falcons Promote RB Jerome Smith & Waive LB James Anderson

Vaughn McClure of ESPN reports that the Falcons have signed RB Jerome Smith off their practice squad and released veteran LB James Anderson.

The fact that the Atlanta elevated a running back to their active roster is a good indication that Steven Jackson may not be available for their season finale against the Panthers.

Anderson, 30, signed with the Patriots in early June, but he was among the team’s final roster cuts before the start of the regular season.

He later joined the Titans for a brief period of time before the Falcons brought him in close to a month ago.

Last year, Anderson appeared in all 16 games for the Bears and recorded 102 tackles, four sacks, and a fumble recovery.
