Falcons Sign WR Carlton Mitchell, Waive WR Shane Wynn

The Atlanta Falcons announced the signing WR Carlton Mitchell to a contract on Thursday.

  • The Falcons placed WR Shane Wynn on waivers to make room for their new addition.

Atlanta brought Mitchell in for a workout either in the week, so it appears as though he was impressive enough for the team to given him an opportunity to compete for a roster in training camp.

Mitchell, 27, is a former sixth round pick of the Browns back in 2010. He spent two years with the Browns before he was waived at the start of the 2012 season. Since then, Mitchell has had brief stints with the Jaguars, Cowboys and Buccaneers.

Mitchell last appeared in an NFL game during the 2011 season when he caught three passes for 21 yards receiving and no touchdowns for the Browns.
