Falcons Sign WR Devin Gray & RB Tony Brooks-James To PS, Release LB Jake Carlock

The Atlanta Falcons announced Monday that they’ve signed WR Devin Gray and RB Tony Brooks-James to their practice squad and released LB Jake Carlock.

Brooks-James, 25, originally signed with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon in May of last year. Atlanta waived Brooks-James coming out of the preseason and he signed with the Buccaneers’ practice squad.

After being cut by Tampa Bay, Brooks-James caught on with the Steelers practice squad and was later promoted to the active roster but was waived in November.

The Vikings signed him to their practice squad in December and re-signed him to a futures deal back in January. He was later cut loose coming out of training camp.

In 2019, Brooks-James appeared in three games with the Steelers and rushed eight times for seven yards and added 32 kickoff return yards.

During his four-year college career with the Ducks, Brooks-James recorded 283 rushing attempts for 1,863 yards (6.6 YPC) and 18 touchdowns to go along with 40 receptions for 392 yards receiving (9.8 YPC) and two touchdowns.
