The show will premier on Tuesday, August 5th.
โWe are excited about the opportunity to give our fans a behind the scenes look at what it takes to prepare an NFL team for the rigors of a 16-game regular season and beyond,โ said Falcons Owner & Chairman Arthur M. Blank. โThis marks the first time that our franchise will be featured on HARD KNOCKS and we look forward to showcasing our great players and coaches to football fans all across America.โ
โWeโre excited to work with the Atlanta Falcons and HBO Sports on HARD KNOCKS,โ said Howard Katz, COO of NFL Films and NFL Senior Vice President of Broadcasting. โWe want to thank Arthur Blank, Thomas Dimitroff, Mike Smith and the entire Falconsโ organization for the trust they have in NFL FILMS by allowing us unprecedented access into their training camp. The Falcons present numerous storylines with a veteran coaching staff, star players and newcomers all coming together to attempt to โRise Upโ back to the top of the NFC.โ
The NFL hadย the ability to choose a team to appear on the show if they meet a certainย criteria which includes: no playoff appearance in the lastย two years, do not have a new head coach, and haven’t appeared on the show in 10 years.
- Theย Bears,ย Giants,ย Bills, Cardinals, Jaguars, Raiders,ย Ramsย andย Steelersย are the teams that could have beenย forced to appear onย Hard Knocks.
However, NFL commissionerย Roger Goodellย recently toldย reporters a few months ago on that “several” teams wereย interested in being featuredย on the showย this year, so they didn’t need to force anyone to participate.
Atlanta should be a great choice as they are looking to rebound from a disappointing 2013 season that saw them post a record of 4-12.
