On Wednesday, former Bills Sย Aaron Williams announced via the Players Tribune that he’s retiring from the NFL.
Williams suffered aย serious neck injury, but there were reports he was healthy enough to play. Last year, he worked out for the Chiefs, Falcons and Jaguars but wasn’t signed to a contract and wound up sitting out the 2017 season.
Williams, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Bills back in 2011. He was entering the fourth year of his five-year, $26,077,844 million contract and set to make a base salary of $3.6 million for the 2017 season when the Bills released him last year.
For his career, Williams recorded 183 tackles, seven interceptions, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown, and 36 pass defenses over the course of 59 games.
