Former Broncos & Lions TE Tony Scheffler Is Retiring From The NFL

 

Veteran TE Tony Scheffler tells Larry Lage of the Associated Press that he is retiring from the NFL due to concussions suffered over the course of his professional career.

According to Scheffler, he has suffered three concussions in the past four years. He plans to become a real estate agent and work as an assistant football coach at the high school in his hometown of Chelsea, Michigan.

Scheffler, 31, was a second-round pick of the Broncos back in 2006. He played eight season and totaled 258 receptions for 3,207 yards receiving and 22 touchdowns over the course of 107 games.
