Former Saints DE Will Smith Was Shot & Killed

Former Saints DE Will Smith was shot and killed late Saturday night in New Orleans, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Smith and his wife Racquel were involved in a minor car accident that led to the shooting.

Police said Smith and his wife were traveling in their Mercedes Benz SUV when they were rear-ended. Smith’s vehicle to hit a Chevrolet Impala. Smith and the driver of the Hummer exchanged words and the driver of the Hummer pulled out a handgun and shot Smith multiple times while his wife was hit twice in the leg.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene and his wife was transported to a hospital.

The shooter is reportedly in custody and the gun used in the shooting has been recovered by police.

Smith was 34 years old.
