Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that former Steelers RB Dri Archer went unclaimed off of waivers on Friday, and is now free to sign with a team of his choosing.
Of course, there’s a chance the Steelers could add him to their practice squad, assuming he wants to remain in Pittsburgh.
Archer, 24, wasย in the second year of his four-year, $2.7 million rookie contractย thatย included a $506,016 signing bonus when the Steelers cut him on Thursday to make room forย WR Jacoby Jones, who was claimedย off of waivers.
The Steelers used a third-round pick onย Archer last year, so it came as a bit of a surprise to see them move on so soon.
This season, Archer has appeared in eight games and total 354 kick return yards for the Steelers.
