Former Steelers RB Dri Archer Goes Unclaimed, Now A Free Agent

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that former Steelers RB Dri Archer went unclaimed off of waivers on Friday, and is now free to sign with a team of his choosing.

Of course, there’s a chance the Steelers could add him to their practice squad, assuming he wants to remain in Pittsburgh.

Archer, 24, was in the second year of his four-year, $2.7 million rookie contract that included a $506,016 signing bonus when the Steelers cut him on Thursday to make room for WR Jacoby Jones, who was claimed off of waivers.

The Steelers used a third-round pick on Archer last year, so it came as a bit of a surprise to see them move on so soon.

This season, Archer has appeared in eight games and total 354 kick return yards for the Steelers.

  1. A tiny return man, who is a bad one, I’m shocked he went unclaimed. IDIOT Colbert, Steleers GM, takes him in round 3, when he might have been there in round 6 !
