Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union reports Thursday that the Jacksonville Jaguars will host free agent rusher Beanie Wells later in the day for a workout.
Wells, a former first-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals, has spent his entire NFL career in the desert. Last season, he was placed on Injury Reserve in late September but was “designated” for a return, per the new NFL injury rules.
Wells could serve the Jaguars well as a back-up if Maurice Jones-Drew is either not fully healthy or faces off the field issues for an alleged fight he was involved in.
In related news, Ahmad Bradshaw is visiting the Colts Wednesday as well.
The 27-year-old Bradshaw is coming off a 1,000 yard rushing season with the New York Giants. He was a cap causality this season for the Giants, thanks in large part to multiple foot surgeries.
