Free agent WR Eric Decker mentioned during an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio that he’s hoping to catch on with a team and have an opportunity to compete for a Super Bowl.
“I took a few visits and talked to some teams,” Decker said. “At this point in my career, I want to go somewhere where I can compete for a Super Bowl and be in a good system and be with a quarterback that my skill set would be an addition to the team.”
Decker specifically mentioned that he believes the Patriots would be a good fit, given his prior experience with OC Josh McDaniels from their time together in Denver.
“I think the Patriots would be a good fit and being drafted by Josh McDaniels in Denver,” Decker said, per Sirius XM NFL Radio. “I talked with New England last year during the free agency process in June. That is always an option that I would definitely love to entertain.”
Decker previously visited with the Ravens and Raiders this offseason.
He also mentioned during an interview with Brandon Stokley of 104.3 The Fan (per Nicki Jhabvala) that he’s “very receptive” to returning to the Broncos.
“Listen, there’s no holdup on my end,” Decker said when asked by Stokley what’s holding up him re-signing with the Broncos. “So whoever you need to call for me, whoever you need to reach out to, please do. Not only is the team one of the greatest organizations in the NFL, but just the community. This is home for us. It’s still a big part of us because, again, we started our lives here, this is where I got drafted, this is where I had both of my kids and gonna have my third kid, so it just means a lot to me. So obviously it’s a desirable place, but again, everything’s got to align, the stars have to kind of align for it to all work. But I’m very receptive to make it happen.”
Decker, 30, is a former third-round pick of the Broncos back in 2010. He spent four years in Denver before signing a five-year, $36.25 million contract that included $15 million guaranteed with the Jets as a free agent back in 2014.
Decker was set to make base salaries of $7.25 million and $7.5 million over the remaining two years of the agreement when the Jets cut him loose last year.
The Titansย to a one-year contract worth up to $5.35 million last June and he’s once again testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.
In 2017, Decker appeared inย all 16 games for the Titans and caught 54 passes for 563 yards receiving and one touchdown. He also contributed 22 kick return yards.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 60 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.
