According to Ian Rapoport, free agent DT Gerald McCoy has completed his visit with the Panthers on Friday and is now expected to take the weekend to decide on his next team.
Rapoport says that it doesn’t sound like a decision is imminent from McCoy at this time, but he could decide between the Panthers, Browns and Ravens and join one of them for the start of minicamp.
The Panthers just recently picked up some additional cap room by restructuring WR Torrey Smith‘s contract.
Both the Ravens and Browns have said they’re very interested in signing McCoy, so it will be interesting to see who he elects to join in the coming days.
McCoy, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2010. He was in the fifth year of his seven-year, $95.2 million contract and set to make a base salary of $13 million in 2019 when the Buccaneers released him.
In 2018, McCoy appeared in 14 games for the Buccaneers and recorded 28 tackles, six sacks, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 28 interior defender out of 112 qualifying players.
