Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Giants DBs coach Lou Anarumo is set to interview with the Bengals on Thursday and is considered the front-runner for their defensive coordinator job.
Pelissero notes that Anarumo worked with new Bengals HC Zac Taylor while they were together in Miami.
The Bengals have surprisingly had a tough time filling their defensive coordinator position this offseason.
Cincinnati reportedly showed interest in hiring a number of coaches but Jack Del Rio, Dom Capers and Todd Grantham have all passed on the job. The Saints blocked secondary coach Aaron Glenn from interviewing and Ohio State DC Jeff Hafley declined to interview for the job.
Other names recently linked to the Bengals include Rams DBs coach Aubrey Pleasant, Falcons DC Marquand Manuel, and Texas A&M DC Mike Elko.
Anarumo, 52, began his coaching career at Wagner back in 1989 as their RBs coach. He worked for a few universities before taking his first NFL coaching job with the Dolphins in 2012 as their DBs coach.
The Giants hired Anarumo as their DBs coach last year.
