Giants Sign WRs Canaan Severin & Ed Eagan, Waive/Injured WRs Keeon Johnson & Kevin Snead

The New York Giants announced Friday that they’ve signed WRs Canaan Severin and Ed Eagan to contracts on Friday.

  • The Giants also waived WRs Keeon Johnson and Kevin Snead with injury designations.

Severin, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia back in May of last year. He stands to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract.

He was waived with an injury designation at the start of the preseason last August and spent the entire year on the Steelers’ injured reserve list.

Pittsburgh elected to cut Severin loose shortly after this year’s draft and while he returned to the team soon after, he was placed on waivers earlier this week.

During his college career at Virginia, Severin caught 101 passes for 1,371 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns over the course of 40 games and four four seasons.
