Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Giants are hiring current Dolphins DC Patrick Graham as their defensive coordinator under new head coach Joe Judge.
It’s pretty rare to see a team hire another’s defensive coordinator, but it appears as though the Dolphins were open to more changes on Brian Flores‘ staff after recently parting ways with OC Chad O’Shea.
Graham previously worked with Judge while they were together with the Patriots.
Graham, 40, began his coaching career at Wagner as a graduate assistant back in 2002. He later spent three years at Richmond before landing his first NFL coaching job with the Patriots in 2009 as a defensive coaching assistant.
After seven years in New England, the Giants hired Graham as their defensive coach in 2016. Graham joined the Packers a year later as their LBs coach and run game coordinator before taking the Dolphins’ defensive coordinator job last year.
In 2019, the Dolphins’ defense ranked No. 30 in yards allowed, No. 32 in points allowed, No. 27 in rushing yards allowed and No. 26 in passing yards allowed.
