According to Ralph Vacchiano, the Giants are no longer planning to sign veteran CB Ross Cockrell after not being able to finalize a contract.
New York hosted Cockrell for a visit last week and were reportedly close to signing him. However, Cockrell will now continue as a free agent.
Cockrell, 29, is a former fourth-round pick of the Bills back in 2014 but was waived after one year. The Steelers signed him shortly after and later traded him to the Giants for a 2018 seventh-round pick.
Cockrell wound up signing a two-year, $6.8M deal with the Panthers in March of 2018 and finished out his contract.
In 2019, Cockrell appeared in 14 games and recorded 62 total tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions, and eight pass defenses.
We have him featured in our Top 100 Available Free Agents List.
