According to Ian Rapoport, the Giants have shopped and are open to dealing several veterans, including CB Janoris Jenkins, LT Nate Solder and LB Alec Ogletree.
The Giants fell to 2-6 with the loss to the Lions on Sunday and are open to trading veteran players with larger contracts in order to pick up more draft picks and cap space.
Solder has drawn interest from the Browns who are in desperate need of offensive tackle help. Jenkins was also shopped last year, and while his play has taken a step back he’s still a solid starting corner which is always in demand.
Solder, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Patriots back in 2011. He played seven seasons for the Patriots before agreeing to a four-year, $62 million contract with the Giants last year.
Solder stands to make base salaries of $5.4 million and $9.9 million over the next two years of the deal.
In 2019, Solder has appeared in seven games for the Giants and made seven starts for them at left tackle. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 34 offensive tackle out of 72 qualifying players.
Jenkins, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Rams back in 2012. He spent four years with the Rams before signing a five-year, $62.5 million contract that included $28.8 million guaranteed with the Giants.
Jenkins stands to make base salaries of $10.15 million over the next two years of the agreement.
In 2019, Jenkins has appeared in eight games for the Giants and recorded 35 tackles, four interceptions and 10 pass defenses.
Ogletree, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Rams back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $7.03 million contract and later signed a five-year, $42.29 million contract with the Rams.
The Rams traded Ogletree to the Giants in 2018 for a fourth-round pick and a swap of late-round picks.
In 2018, Olgetree has appeared in six games for the Giants and recorded 38 tackles, one sack and three pass defenses.
We’ll have more on the Giants ahead of the trade deadline as the news is available.
