Giants Waive RB Robert Martin

The New York Giants announced Thursday that they’ve waived RB Robert Martin

This comes just a day after the Giants signed RB Rod Smith to a contract.

Martin, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.71 million contract with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers back in May of last year. He managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but was unfortunately waived soon after and re-signed to the Giants’ practice squad.

During his college career at Rutgers, Martin rushed for 2,274 yards on 449 carries (5.1 YPC) to go along with 20 receptions for 135 yards receiving and 18 total touchdowns over the course of 43 games.
