Giants WR Sterling Shepard Back In Concussion Protocol

According to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, Giants WR Sterling Shepard is back in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Duggan reports that Shepard displayed concussion symptoms to the Giants’ medical staff Monday morning. This is his second concussion this season.

Multiple reporters have said that this is expected to be an extended absence for Shepard.

Golden Tate returned from suspension last week, but saw limited work against the Vikings. He figures to have an expanded role moving forward.

The Giants could also sign another receiver in the coming days to bolster their depth at the position.

Shepard, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Giants back in 2016. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $5.944 million contract when he agreed to a four-year, $41 million extension that includes $21.3 million guaranteed this offseason.

in 2019, Shepard has appeared in four games for the Giants and caught 25 passes for 267 yards receiving and one touchdown. He has also rushed for 42 yards.
