Jaguars Not Counting On WR Justin Blackmon Playing Next Season

Jaguars HC Gus Bradley told reporters on Friday thatย WR Justin Blackmon playing this season is “not something we’re counting on,” perย Ryan O’Halloran.

Bradley added that he would beย โ€œrelatively surprised” if Blackmon was playing for them in 2014.

Blackmon’s receivedย an indefinite suspension back inย November for what is believed to beย a failed drug test. He also served aย four-gameย suspension for substanceย abuse at the start of the 2013 season, so there are major concerns regarding the former No. 5 overall pick.

The Jaguars have previously said that they would welcome him back once he’s reinstated, and plan on treating him asย aย “luxury.”

Last year, Blackmon wound up playing in only four games for the Jaguars. He totaled 29 receptions for 415 yards receiving and a touchdown, which is pretty decent production in a shortย period of time.
