ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Jets and Chan Gaileyย still haven’t reached an agreement regarding their offensive coordinator position, and there are now questions as to whether or not it will get done at all.
According to Schefter, the future for Gailey and the Jets remainsย “uncertain” at this point in time and the two sides are reportedly “at a crossroads.”
โEverybody made it seem like a done deal โ everybody except me,โ Gailey said Monday.
Schefter adds that three NFL teams have also spoken toย Gailey, and he’s believed to beย weighing his options.
Gaileyย reportedlyย wants to find theย “right team in the right situation,” which implies that there could be some concerns from his end about runningย the Jets’ offense next year.
Jason La Canforaย mentioned on Sunday that it sounded like the Jets hiring Gaileyย “might not be a slam dunk” like many hadย assumed.
With so many teams targeting offensive coordinators right now, the Jets could have a difficult time securing some of the top coordinator candidates.
La Canforaย reports thatย the Jets have begun to reach out to other offensiveย coordinator candidates, so we should have a better idea of who they’re considering in the coming days.
We’ll have more updates regarding the Jets and their defensive coordinator position as the news is available.
