The New York Jets announced Thursday that they’ve promoted S Doug Middleton to their active roster and signed FB Chris Swain to their practice squad

The Jets’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. S Ronald Martin
  2. G Craig Watts
  3. LB Freddie Bishop

  5. RB Brandon Wilds
  6. DT Brandin Bryant

Middleton, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Appalachian State back in May. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later signed to the team’s practice squad.

During his college career at Appalachian State, Middleton recorded 127 tackles, one sack, four interceptions and nine pass defenses over the course of 24 games.
