Jets QB Sam Darnold will not practice Saturday and is doubtful to play in Monday’s game against the Patriots, per Brian Costello.
With Darnold likely sidelined, the Jets are expected to start Joe Flacco at quarterback in Week 9.
Flacco reportedly took all the first-team reps on Thursday, half yesterday and will get all of them today, per Costello.
Jets HC Adam Gase said that Darnold felt he wasnโt throwing as well as he had hoped yesterday, per Rich Cimini.
Darnold, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Jets back in 2018. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $30,370,490 contract with the Jets that included a $20,167,628 signing bonus.
The contract will also include a fifth-year option for the Jets to pick up in 2021.
In 2020, Darnold has appeared in six games for the Jets and completed 58.6 percent of his passes for 1,045 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions. He has also rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown.
