Update:

The New York Jets announced Thursday that they’ve officially re-signed OT Ben Ijalana to a one-year deal.

Dennis Waszak Jr. of the Associated Press reports that the Jets are planning to re-sign OT Ben Ijalana now that D’Brickashaw Ferguson has decided to retire.

  • According to Rich Cimini, Ijalana receives a one-year contract from the Jets.

The Giants actually brought Ijalana in for a visit on Monday, which was the first reported interest in him since the free agent market opened close to a month ago.

It still seems likely that the Jets will look to bolster their offensive tackle depth in the coming months.

Ijalana, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Colts back in 2011. He lasted just a few years in Indianapolis before he was placed on waivers and later claimed by the Jets at the start of the 2013 season.

New York elected to bring Ijalana back on a one-year deal last year, but he, unfortunately, did not appear in a game during the 2015 season.

Ijalana was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.
