Jets Sign CB Javier Arenas & Waive LB Ikemefuna Enemkpali

The New York Jets announced that they’ve waived LB Ikemefuna Enemkpali after he broke starting QB Geno Smith‘s jaw in locker room incident that occurred on Tuesday.

Enemkpali, 24, was taken in seventh round of the 2014 draft and had three years remaining on his four-year, $2.3 million rookie contract.

In 2014, Enemkpali wound up appearing in six games and recorded three tackles and two pass defenses for the Jets.

Arenas, 27, was selected by the Chiefs in the second-round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He spent his first three years in the league with the Chiefs before signing a one-year contract with Arizona in 2013.

The Falcons later signed him to a contract in March of last year.

In 2014, Arenas appeared in all 6 games and totaled nine tackles and one pass defense.
