Adam Caplan reports that the Jets and special teams coordinator Brant Boyer agreed to a contract extension on Sunday.
According to Caplan, there were “multiple teams” interested in hiring Boyer if new Jets HC Adam Gase did not retain him as part of his coaching staff.
Boyer, 47, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cardinals back in 1994. He played 10 years in the NFL before joining the Colts as an assistant special teams coach for the 2012 season.
After four years in Indianapolis, the Jets hired Boyer as their special teams coordinator in 2016.
According to FootballOutsiders, the Jets’ special teams unit ranked No. 1 in the NFL.
