The New York Jets announced Saturday that they’ve signed TE Ryan Griffin to a multi-year contract extension.
- According to Mike Garafolo, Griffin receives a three-year extension worth up to $10.8 million with “reachable incentives.” The contract includes $4 million guaranteed.
Griffin, 29, is a former sixth-round pick of the Texans back in 2013. He was in the second year of his three-year, $9 million contract that includes $3.225 million guaranteed when the Texans released him during the offseason after an arrest for vandalism and public intoxication.
The Jets later signed Griffin to a contract in July. Griffin was in line to be an unrestricted free agent in 2020.
In 2019, Griffin has appeared in 10 games for the Jets and caught 25 passes for 269 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 35 tight end out of 69 qualifying players.
