Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jets are planning to sign WR Donte Moncrief to a contract once he passes the COVID-19 protocol.
Moncrief recently worked out for the 49ers and met with the Jets.
Moncrief, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Colts back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.745 million contract before agreeing to a one-year, $9.6 million fully-guaranteed with the Jaguars in 2018.
Moncrief signed a two-year deal with the Steelers last March, but was waived during the season to protect the team’s projected compensatory pick for losing Le’Veon Bell in free agency. The Panthers later claimed him off of waivers before waiving him in December.
In 2019, Moncrief appeared in eight games for the Steelers and Panthers and caught four receptions for 18 yards (4.5 YPC) and no touchdowns.
