Jets WR Percy Harvin Could Be Done For The Season

Rich Cimini of ESPN New York writes that Jets WRย Percy Harvin could be lost for the season after he injured hisย left ankle during Sunday’s overtime loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

According to Cimini,ย Harvin left the stadium on crutches and mentioned that he was going to undergo further testing on his injured ankle.

“I can’t talk too much about the injury other than it will be evaluated here in a little bit,” Harvinย saidย following Sunday’s game.

Harvin put together his best performance since he was traded to the Jets several weeks ago. He finished the game with six catches forย 124 yards receiving andย a touchdown.

Harvin, 26, is in the second year of hisย six-year, $67 million contractย that includedย $25.5 million guaranteed. However, the Jets will face a decision whether to keep Harvin at his current salary or release him and take the $10.5 million in cap savings.

Should the Jets elect to keep him, Harvin is set to make base salaries ofย $10.5 million (2015), $9.9 million (2016), $9.95 million (2017), andย $11.15 million (2018) over the remainder of the agreement, but it’s hard to imagine the Jets would keep himย aroundย atย that price.

Entering Sunday’s game, Harvin had caught 41 passes for 315 yards receiving while contributing another 188 yards on 25 carries (6.7 YPC) andย one touchdown over the course of 10 games.

We’ll have an update as the news is available.
