Jets WR Percy Harvin Could Be Done For The Season

Rich Cimini of ESPN New York writes that Jets WR Percy Harvin could be lost for the season after he injured his left ankle during Sundayโ€™s overtime loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

According to Cimini, Harvin left the stadium on crutches and mentioned that he was going to undergo further testing on his injured ankle.

โ€œI canโ€™t talk too much about the injury other than it will be evaluated here in a little bit,โ€ Harvin said following Sundayโ€™s game.

Harvin put together his best performance since he was traded to the Jets several weeks ago. He finished the game with six catches for 124 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Harvin, 26, is in the second year of his six-year, $67 million contract that included $25.5 million guaranteed. However, the Jets will face a decision whether to keep Harvin at his current salary or release him and take the $10.5 million in cap savings.

Should the Jets elect to keep him, Harvin is set to make base salaries of $10.5 million (2015), $9.9 million (2016), $9.95 million (2017), and $11.15 million (2018) over the remainder of the agreement, but itโ€™s hard to imagine the Jets would keep him around at that price.

Entering Sundayโ€™s game, Harvin had caught 41 passes for 315 yards receiving while contributing another 188 yards on 25 carries (6.7 YPC) and one touchdown over the course of 10 games.

Weโ€™ll have an update as the news is available.
