Lisa Salters of ESPN (via Adam Beasley) is reporting that OT Jonathan Martin doesn’t think he can play for the Miami Dolphins again.
- Salters adds that Martin “wants to play football again.”
The Dolphins’ offensive linemen could really use some help right now, but it’s hard to imagine Martin stepping foot in the team’s locker room after what has transpired in recent weeks. The situation involving G Richie Incognito continues to hang over this team, so it’s more likely that Miami will need to get by with who they currently have up front.
Martin, 24, is under contract through the 2015 season, but the Dolphins could elect to cut him loose during the offseason and allow him to find a new home and hopefully a fresh start. Some analysts around the league appear to be skeptical as to whether or not Martin would be embarrassed by a new locker room, but that’s purely a speculative opinion regarding a serious matter.
