Kevin Smith Is Sliding Down The Lions Depth Chart

After beginning the season as the Detroit Lions starting running back, Kevin Smith did not play a single offensive snap as they fell to the Vikings 20-13, per Chris Burke.

It appears that Smith has become the Lions No. 3 running back behind Mikel Leshoure and Joique Bell. LeShoure had 17-touches as the starting back and Bell had seven as the Lions third-down back. In the 2011 draft, the Lions had drafted LeShoure with the intentions of having him play a major role in the team’s offense, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that he is now the starter. It doesn’t appear that Smith will see the ball that much in the near future, as this marks the second week in a row he didn’t have a touch.
