LaRon Landry Asking For $6 Million A Year In A New Deal?

After coming off a one-year deal with the Jets in which he played in all 16 games, safety LaRon Landry is reportedly asking targeting $6 million a year in a new deal, according toย Rich Cimini.

Due to a clause in his current contract, the Jets will be unable to franchise Landry, making it almost a lock that he will be playing elsewhere next season.

Prior to his signing with the Jets, Landry had struggled to stay on the field and suffered a torn Achilles two seasons ago.

Assuming that $6 million per year figure is accurate, that would place Landry among theย leagues highest-paid safeties. Landry did have a fairly productive year for the Jets, but it’s hard to say that he’s really in the discussion as a Top 5 safety.

The good news for him is that he should be able to secure the multi-year contract that he missed out on in 2011.

We have Landry listed as the 68th best available player on our Top 100 Free Agents list.
