Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that free agent DT Gerald McCoy is hoping to make a decision at some point Monday, but it’s not certain.
According to Rapoport, McCoy and his agent still talking to the Browns, Ravens and Panthers about a possible deal. As of now, neither of the teams have any idea of where McCoy is leaning at this time, and it appears as though McCoy’s agent is working to get the best possible deal from these teams before deciding.
Rapoport notes that McCoy would like to be present for the start of minicamp and it just so happens that the Browns open their minicamp workouts on Tuesday.
McCoy, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2010. He was in the fifth year of his seven-year, $95.2 million contract and set to make a base salary of $13 million in 2019 when the Buccaneers released him.
In 2018, McCoy appeared in 14 games for the Buccaneers and recorded 28 tackles, six sacks, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 28 interior defender out of 112 qualifying players.
