Per NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo, free-agent OT Jason Peters is still intent on playing in 2020 and is mulling his options, which could include a return to the Eagles.
Garafolo says the two sides have remained in contact since Philadelphia announced it would allow Peters to test free agency.
The Eagles drafted OT Andre Dillard in the first round last year as the apparent heir to Peters’ starting spot at left tackle, but left the door open to a return.
Other options for Peters include the Broncos, Browns and Jets, which could all benefit from adding the highly-decorated left tackle. No one seems to be in a great rush to close a deal, including Peters.
Garafolo adds that the 38-year-old Peters has told friends that he feels great, and that if Buccaneers QB Tom Brady can play into his 40s, he can too.
Back in March, John Keim, the Redskins had discussions with Peters, but nothing has come of it.
The Chargers have also been tossed out as a potential landing spot for Peters, considering that they questions at left tackle and Peters is, arguably, the best available option right now.
Peters, 38, originally signed on with the Bills as an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas back in 2004. He spent five years in Buffalo before being traded to the Eagles in 2009.
Peters signed a four-year, $53 million extension in Philadelphia after the trade. Last year, Peters signed another one-year extension worth $6 million for the 2019 season.
In 2019, Peters started 13 games for the Eagles at left tackle. He was Pro Football Focus‘ No. 6-ranked tackle out of 83 qualifying players.
We have Peters listed in our Top 100 2020 Free Agents list.
