According to Calvin Watkins, there are expected to be “at least” 8-10 teams interested in Jets free agent CB Morris Claiborne this offseason.
Watkins adds that there’s no guarantee Claiborne will be back with the Jets for the 2018 season if he reaches the open market on March 14.
The Jets are expected to be in the market for cornerback help this offseason and have already been linked to Malcolm Butler,ย so it will be interesting to see how they handle talks with Claiborne.
Claiborne, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract with Dallas before returning to the team on a one-year, $3 million for the 2016 season.
Last year, Claiborne departed for a one-yearย contract worth $5 million with the Jets and is once again in position to be an unrestricted free agent.
In 2017,ย Claiborne appeared in 15 games for the Jets and recorded 43 tackles, no sacks, an interception and eight pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 98 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.
