Lions Claim DL Jerel Worthy Off Waiver From Chiefs

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Lions have claimed DL Jerel Worthy off of waivers from the Chiefs on Tuesday.

Worthy, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Packers back in 2012. However, he lasted just two years in Green Bay and sustained a serious knee. Upon returning, the Packers traded him to the Patriots for a conditional draft pick, but he was unfortunately cut loose.

The Chiefs would later sign Worthy to their practice squad, but elected to waive him on Monday.

Worthy hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since the 2013 season when he was still playing for the Packers.
