Lions Place CB Bill Bentley On Season-Ending I.R.

Update:

Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com reported earlier this morning that the Lions placed CB Bill Bentley on season-ending injured reserve after he suffered a torn ACL.

———-

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports that Lions CB Bill Bentley suffered a torn ACL during Monday night’s season opener and will miss the remainder of the 2014 season.

Detroit already had limited depth in their secondary, so this is very disappointing news for them and Bentley.

Bentley, 25, is in the third year of his four-year, $2.649 million rookie contract and will make a base salary of $570,000 this season. The Lions used a third-round pick on Bentley back in 2012.

Last year, Bentley appeared in 13 games and recorded 29 tackles and five pass defenses.

The Lions recently brought i veteran CB Champ Bailey for a visit, so this could be something to keep an eye on in the coming days.
