Lions Place DT A’Shawn Robinson On IR, Claim DE Mitchell Loewen Off Waivers

The Detroit Lions announced Friday that they’ve placed DT A’Shawn Robinson on injured reserve and claimed DE Mitchell Loewen off of waivers from the Saints.

Robinson, 23, is a former second-round pick of the Lions back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $5.234 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $925,785 and $1.164 million over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2018, Robinson appeared in 13 games for the Lions and recorded 49 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble, and a recovery.

Loewen, 25, signed on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2016. He has missed extensive time due to injury and been limited to appearing in just three games over his first three years in the NFL.

The Saints elected to cut Loewen loose on Thursday.
