Lions Promote LB Trevor Bates, Sign LB Garret Dooley To PS

The Detroit Lions announced Monday that they’ve promoted LB Trevor Bates to their active roster and signed LB Garret Dooley to their practice squad.

Here’s the Lions updated practice squad:

  1. CB Mike Ford
  2. WR Chris Lacy
  3. QB Jake Rudock
  4. DT John Atkins
  5. C Leo Koloamatangi
  6. G Jamil Demby
  7. TE Jerome Cunningham
  8. CB Dee Virgin
  9. TE Hakeem Valles
  10. LB Garret Dooley

Bates, 25, is a former seventh-round pick of the Colts back in 2016. He was on and off of the Colts’ active roster during his rookie season before signing on to the Patriots’ practice squad toward the end of the year.

New England brought Bates back on a futures contract last year, but he was once again cut loose at the start of the season and later added to their practice squad. He had a brief stint with the Giants to close out the season.

The Lions signed Bates to a contract this past May but was waived coming out of the preseason and later signed to the team’s practice squad.

During his college career, Bates appeared in 46 games and recorded 207 tackles, 19 sacks, 10 passes defenses, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, three interceptions and two defensive touchdowns.
