Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Lions RB Kerryon Johnson is expected to miss “some time” with a knee injury.
On Monday, Lions HC Matt Patricia relayed that Johnson told him he was fine after meeting with the doctors this morning. Although, Patricia didn’t have an in-depth conversation with him, per Dave Birkett.
It will be interesting to see what Detroit elects to do while Johnson is out. There will likely be trade options available to consider along with some notable free agent options including C.J. Anderson, who was with the Lions earlier in the season.
As of now, the Lions have Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissic on their active roster and Paul Perkins on the practice squad.
Johnson, 22, is a former second-round pick of the Lions back in 2018. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $6,503,698 rookie contract that included a $2,809,960 signing bonus.
In 2019, Johnson has appeared in six games for the Lions and rushed for 308 yards on 92 carries (3.3 YPC) to go along with nine receptions for 126 yards receiving and three total touchdowns.
