Lions Sign C Joe Madsen

The Detroit Lions signed C Joe Madsen to a contract on Wednesday, according to the NFL transactions release.

  • Madsen takes the roster spot of OT Michael Williams, who was traded to the Patriots.

Madsen, 25, originally signed on with the Steelers as undrafted free agent out of West Virginia back in 2013. However, he lasted just a few months with the team before he was placed on waivers.

Madsen wound up playing for the Los Angeles KISS in the Arena Football League during the 2014 season.

The Packers would later sign him to a future/reserve contract in January, but his time in Green Bay was also short lived, as the team waived him after this year’s draft.

The Browns signed him to a contract back in July, but was waived just a few weeks ago.

Madsen has yet to appear in an NFL game.
