The Detroit Lions announced Thursday that they’ve signed C Wesley Johnson to a contract.
The Lions brought Johnson in for a visit on Wednesday and it appears as though everything checked.
Johnson, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2014. He lasted just a few months in Pittsburgh before he was waived and later claimed by the Jets.
Last year, the Jets re-signed Johnson to a one-year, $2.746 million restricted contract and he’s currently testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.
In 2017, Johnson appeared in 15 games for the Jets and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 35 center out of 36 qualifying players.
