Lions Sign QB Alek Torgersen To Practice Squad

The Detroit Lions announced Wednesday that they’ve signed QB Alek Torgersen to their practice squad.

Torgersen takes the roster spot of QB Brad Kaaya, who has been signed to the Colts’ active roster (NFLTR).

The Lions’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. WR Dontez Ford (Injured)
  2. DE Alex Barrett
  3. OT Dan Skipper
  4. WR Jace Billingsley
  5. DE Jeremiah Valoaga
  6. C Leo Koloamatangi
  7. DB Rolan Milligan
  8. DB Adairius Barnes
  9. TE Brandon Barnes
  10. LB Thurston Armbrister
  11. QB Alek Torgersen

Torgersen, 22, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Pennsylvania back in May. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Falcons cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

Torgersen later signed on to the Redskins’ practice squad before he was released a few weeks ago.

During his college career, Torgersen threw for 7,025 yards while completing 65.1 percent of his passes to go along with 52 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. He also rushed for 912 yards and 18 touchdowns over the course of 30 games.
