The Detroit Lions have officially signed RB Jonathan Williams off of Washington’s practice squad.
This will likely fuel more speculation about Kerryon Johnson‘s status with the Lions after he recently came up as a potential trade candidate.
Williams, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Bills back in 2016. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2.58 million contract when the Bills waived him coming out of the preseason.
Williams had brief stints with the Broncos and Saints before signing on to the Colts’ practice squad last year. The Lions signed him to a contract this past August but he was among their final roster cuts and later added to their practice squad.
Washington would later add him to their practice squad.
In 2019, Williams appeared in nine games and rushed for 235 yards on 49 carries (4.8 YPC) and one touchdown. He also caught five passes for 59 yards.
