Lions Sign S Glover Quin To Two-Year, $13M Extension

The Lions announced Sunday that they’ve signed S Glover Quin to a two-year contract extension.

  • Adam Schefter reports that Quin receives a two-year, $13 million extension with $9.5 million guaranteed.

Glover is one of our team leaders, and throughout his career has been a consummate professional on and off the field,” Lions Executive Vice President and General Manager Bob Quinn said.  “We are thrilled that he will be a Lion for the next three seasons.

“I also want to thank Glover and his representatives for their work in making this contract extension a reality.”

The Lions were focused on getting an extension done before the start of the season and it looks like the two parties managed to find a balance.

Quin, 31, is a former fourth-round pick of the Texans back in 2009. After four years in Houston, Quinn signed a five-year, $23.5 million contract with the Lions in March of 2013.

Quin is currently in the final year of his contract and stands to make a base salary of $1.4 million for the 2017 season.

In 2016, Quin appeared in all 16 games for the Lions and recorded 68 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 23 safety out of 90 qualifying players.
